Since 2012 Mathias has worked in schools, music schools and cities around the world as composer, workshop leader and teacher trainer. Education is written into his works: he holds master's degrees in film composition and in educational psychology. He works in Danish, English and Nordic languages.
Booked by, among others, Helsingør Kommune (since 2012), Ishøj Kommune (since 2013), Levende Musik i Skolen, UC SYD, Absalon, Odense Musikskole and the Royal Academy of Music in Aalborg.

Teaching material for every orchestral work – The Neverending Maze with Levende Musik i Skolen, Mossy Mogens with Forlaget Dansk Sang, BIOFONIA in development – and workshops for pupils and teachers before and after a production. The children arrive knowing the songs and the rules of the game.

SANGSKABER – pupils write songs about their own lives; the method is published by Forlaget Dansk Sang and used in Danish, Faroese and online. Podcast – pupils produce their own podcasts with their own voices and sounds. Film music – a class scores its own short film. And Tocanta.org, made by Mathias: a free sound workshop in the browser, no accounts, no scores, no way to fail.

Courses for teachers and student teachers, built in dialogue with the teachers – the material is made together with them, which is also how Tocanta works. With Levende Musik i Skolen, UC SYD, Absalon, Odense Musikskole and the Royal Academy of Music in Aalborg.

A song for a place, sung by everyone who is there: the Poetry Park in Frederikshavn, Kulturmødet Mors with a DR brass quartet, Klimafolkemødet, and Mega Grand Pop with 3,000 children in Arena Nord.
“For the past ten years or so Mathias Madsen Munch has been an important part of the children's culture effort in Helsingør Kommune, one of the recurring artists that pupils in our schools meet as a teacher. My warmest recommendation for any project that revolves around music and innovation.”Ida Wettendorff, children's culture consultant, Helsingør Kommune · written recommendation, translated from Danish · a partnership now in its 13th consecutive year
“Not long after the course, year 7 had to write an essay about something worth fighting for. Some of the girls wanted to fight for the rainforest and its animals. That is where I could really feel that something had happened.”Teacher, Bjerregrav Friskole · in CISU's annual report 2024, “Regnskovens lyde”, p. 28 · translated from Danish · read the report ↗
“Composers like Mathias take charge of developing the concert concepts themselves: projects that arrive thoroughly worked through and ready to implement. One of the hallmarks of his works is their continuous development, created in close dialogue with the audience.”Maja Joss-Børch, DR Musikariet / Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester · written recommendation, 2024, translated from Danish

26 pages for music, grades 0–4: a preparation hour with Mathias on video, the instrument families, the clap signal that steers the concert, leitmotifs with sheet music, play-along parts and listening tasks. Produced with Levende Musik i Skolen, supported by the Augustinus Foundation.
SANGSKABER (Forlaget Dansk Sang, 2021) – the songwriting method as a book for teachers. Mosbefængte Mogens (Dansk Sang, 2022) – songbook, book, audiobook and teaching films recorded with Budapest Art Orchestra. Ragnarok and Baron von Münchhausen – teaching material for the school-concert tours.

Browser-based material with no accounts or scoring, designed for ordinary school devices: the child finds a musician, plays her melody and sees it in the sky.
